The Fox Energy Center is actually a natural combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in Outagamie County, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. The plant is situated on land that was once actually held by Mid-America Corporation.
Around 2002, it was sold to Calpine Corporation. The first planned location of Fox Energy was near Sherry, Wisconsin. Calpine bought the present facility in Kaukauna, WI, from Mid-America Corporation because of permitting issues at that site.
Calpine then sold the plant in the spring of 2005 to GE Energy Financial Services and entered into a lease and maintenance, and operations agreement with GE. Back in 2005, Calpine went bankrupt, and in 2006, the O&M agreement was sold to GE Energy Financial Services.
