Citgo runs around 4,400 gas stations across the eastern United States, and every one of them sells Top Tier certified fuel. If you drive in the Southeast, Midwest, or Northeast, you have probably passed the red-and-white triangle sign hundreds of times. Here is what you need to know: where Citgo stations are, whether the gas is any good, how Club Citgo rewards work, and how to stack the new Walmart+ discount for 10 cents off per gallon.
Where Are Citgo Gas Stations?
Citgo has roughly 4,200 to 4,400 locations in more than 2,000 cities across about 30 states. It is an eastern brand: the heaviest concentration is in the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast. North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia each have more than 340 Citgo stations, making those three states the brand’s stronghold.
West of the Rockies you will barely see a Citgo. If you are road-tripping coast to coast, plan on switching brands once you leave the eastern half of the country.
Is Citgo Gas Good Quality?
Yes. Citgo is a Top Tier licensed gasoline brand, verified on the official Top Tier gasoline brands list. That means every grade of Citgo gasoline contains detergent additives at 2 to 3 times the EPA minimum, which helps keep intake valves and fuel injectors cleaner than minimum-spec fuel.
Top Tier is a detergent standard, not an octane rating. Citgo stations sell the usual grades (regular, midgrade, premium) plus diesel at most locations. For the full rundown on what the certification means and which brands carry it, see our Top Tier gas guide.
Club Citgo Rewards: How Much Can You Save?
Club Citgo is the brand’s free loyalty program, and it has one of the better everyday offers among major chains:
- New members: 20 cents off per gallon on your first tank
- Everyday: 3 cents off per gallon, every day
- Bonus days: 5 cents off one Friday per month, and 9 cents off one Tuesday per month
There is also a Citgo gas credit card: 30 cents off per gallon for the first 60 days after opening, then 5 cents off per gallon in fuel statement credits after that. Like all store cards, the regular APR is high, so it only makes sense if you pay the balance in full.
The Walmart+ Discount at Citgo
In September 2026, Citgo joined the Walmart+ Gas Savings program. Walmart+ members now get 10 cents off per gallon at participating Citgo stations, on top of the program’s existing Exxon, Mobil, Murphy, Walmart, and Sam’s Club locations. The benefit pushed the program past 17,000 participating stations nationwide.
The useful part: at participating locations you can stack the Walmart+ discount with Club Citgo rewards, combining the 10-cent membership saving with the loyalty program’s per-gallon offers. Activate it by linking a Club Citgo account in the Walmart app’s Gas Savings section.

Citgo vs Other Eastern Brands
| Brand | US stations | Top Tier | Rewards highlight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citgo | ~4,400 | Yes | 3 cents/gal daily + bonus days |
| Sunoco | ~5,200 | Yes | Go Rewards, 94-octane Ultra |
| Marathon | ~5,900 | Yes | MakeItCount points |
| BP | ~6,900 | No (opted out) | BPme, price-match subscription |
Citgo sits in the middle of the eastern-brand pack on station count, but its rewards are more generous day-to-day than most competitors. If your commute passes both a Citgo and a Sunoco, the Club Citgo daily discount usually wins on price.
